FLYDUBAI FLIGHT DIVERTED TO SAUDI AFTER VIOLENT ALTERCATION IN COCKPIT

TABUK, SAUDI ARABIA: A flydubai flight bound from Dubai to Tel Aviv was forced to make an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in northern Saudi Arabia on Wednesday following a harrowing mid-air altercation in the cockpit that left a pilot seriously injured.

Flydubai Flight FZ1073 was carrying 174 passengers and six crew members when the aircraft squawked an emergency signal while transiting through regional airspace. According to initial passenger accounts and official statements, a violent conflict erupted inside the cockpit during the flight. Passengers reported hearing loud screams and noticing blood near the cockpit door as the aircraft suddenly entered a rapid descent.

Witnesses aboard the Boeing 737 aircraft recounted moments of intense panic as crew members and off-duty pilots travelling as passengers rushed to assist. Passengers reported that an individual had brandished a knife and attacked the pilot inside the flight deck. Ground and flight crew successfully intervened to restore stability to the controls before safely guiding the airliner to the nearest available airfield in Saudi Arabia.

In a statement released shortly after the landing, flydubai confirmed that the flight had experienced an inflight security incident and was safely diverted to Tabuk. “All passengers are safe and accounted for,” an airline spokesperson stated, emphasizing that passenger and crew welfare remains the carrier’s top operational priority.

Security and aviation authorities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel have launched a joint investigation into the motives behind the cockpit dispute and the security breach. Diplomatic officials confirmed that measures are underway to coordinate replacement transport to convey the stranded passengers safely to their destination.
