Building AI Educators: Day-1 Overview of the Anna Akka Mentorship
Hyderabad: Day-1 of the Teaching Internship on AI and Digital Learning Training, part of the Anna Akka Mentorship program, commenced successfully at GDCW Hussainialam. Under the capable leadership of Principal Prof. Appiya Chinamma and Vice Principal Dr. Md. Ghouse Sir, the day unfolded with clear direction and enthusiasm. The organized coordination by IQAC coordinator Dr. K. Sreedevi and the dedicated Nodal Officers—Prof. D. Shanmukhi Jyothi, Dr. P. Manjula, and Dr. K. Shobha Rani—ensured smooth operations across both sessions held in the Computer Labs.
Trainer M. A. Shahbaz from Deccan College of Engineering and Technology guided the participants through the day’s activities, focusing on equipping the student mentors with the skills to teach AI concepts to school learners. The Day-1 sessions were split into morning and afternoon blocks, providing a hands-on environment where participants could practice and refine their instructional approaches in a focused setting. The initial training targeted Classes 6 and 7, aligning content with appropriate developmental milestones for younger audiences.
On behalf of GDCW Hussainialam, the organizers extended heartfelt gratitude to the Commissioner, Joint Director (JD), Regional Joint Director (RJD), and the State Nodal Officer for their support and facilitation of the program. Their backing underscored the commitment to expanding AI literacy and empowering college students to become confident educators for younger students. As the internship moves forward, participants can anticipate further sessions on practical lesson planning, classroom delivery, and important ethical considerations in AI education, complemented by the development of age-appropriate modules to pilot with local schools.
