​Historic Milestone: OU Records a Historic First in India, Securing Four Prestigious ISO Certifications

Hyderabad: Osmania University, which has completed a glorious journey of 109 years in academic excellence and institutional development, has crossed another historic milestone. Osmania University has created a new record as the first university in India to simultaneously receive four prestigious, internationally recognized ISO certifications from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Government of India.
​These international standard certificates were officially presented at a grand certification ceremony held on Wednesday at the Senate Hall in the Administrative Building of Osmania University. Shri Sandeep Kumar Kanojia, Deputy Director General (Southern Region) & Scientist ‘F’, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chennai, attended as the Chief Guest and presented the certificates in the presence of senior officials from BIS and the University.
​The Four Prestigious ISO Certifications:
​Osmania University has been awarded the following certifications in crucial areas such as governance, sustainability, and quality management:
​ISO 21001:2018 – Educational Organizations Management System (EOMS)
​ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management System (EMS)
​ISO 50001:2018 – Energy Management System (EnMS)
​ISO 22000:2018 – Food Safety Management System (FSMS)
​These certifications reflect Osmania University’s dedication to implementing world-class education, environmental conservation, energy efficiency, food safety, and internationally accepted management practices.

​The prestigious event was presided over by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, Senior Professor Kumar Molugaram.
​Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Shri Sandeep Kumar Kanojia, lauded the pioneering spirit of the university. At the same time, he extended an inspiring challenge to the University:
“Achieving these rigorous international certifications is a magnificent achievement. However, this is only the beginning of the quality journey, not the destination. The real success lies in continuously maintaining and further developing these quality standards.”
​Shri G. Venkatanarayanan (Scientist ‘E’ & Director, BIS) and Shri Rajpal (Scientist ‘E’ & Management System Certification Officer) also spoke on the occasion. They praised the university administration for fostering accountability, sustainability, and a culture of institutional excellence across all academic and administrative departments of the university.
​Senior Professor Kumar Molugaram, Vice-Chancellor, expressed his happiness over achieving this rare feat in the history of Indian universities. He stated that this is a proud moment for the entire Osmania family.
​”Osmania University has a rich history spanning over a century. However, we do not rest on past laurels. By adopting contemporary global standards, we are preparing Osmania to face future challenges. We are shaping the university to compete internationally and to meet the needs of students and society,” the Vice-Chancellor emphasized.
​Earlier, Professor B. Sirisha, Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), delivered the welcome address and explained the strategic and comprehensive efforts behind achieving this international recognition. Registrar Professor G. Naresh Reddy stated that this milestone will serve as a new benchmark for higher education administration and good governance in India.
​Following the presentation of the certificates, the BIS officials were felicitated on behalf of Osmania University with shawls and mementos.
​The historic ceremony saw enthusiastic participation from the principals of university constituent and affiliated colleges, deans of various faculties, heads of departments, directors of centers and institutes, faculty members, administrative staff, research scholars, and a large number of students.
​The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A. S. Chakravarthy. He extended special thanks to the officials of the Bureau of Indian Standards for their constant cooperation, the University leadership, Vice-Chancellor’s OSD Senior Professor S. Jitender Kumar Naik, the IQAC team, teaching and non-teaching staff, and everyone who contributed to this prestigious victory.
​The historic program concluded successfully with the singing of the National Anthem.
