Jana Nayagan OTT Deal Takes a Hit After Delay, Leak

Published on

Chennai: Vijay’s Jana Nayagan was once expected to secure a massive OTT deal, but the film’s digital prospects have taken a major hit after multiple setbacks. The project has faced continuous hurdles from release delays to a major piracy leak impacting its overall market value. While the film still enjoys strong buzz due to Vijay’s star power, its OTT journey has turned turbulent.

Earlier reports suggested a deal of around ₹110 crore with Amazon Prime Video. However, the agreement reportedly fell through due to uncertainty over the film’s release timeline. The situation worsened after the film was leaked online ahead of release, significantly affecting its valuation.

Despite legal action and warnings from the makers, the damage appears to have already been done. Prime Video is now said to have backed out of the deal. Following this, the makers began exploring new options.

Latest reports suggest that ZEE5 is in talks to acquire the digital rights, with an offer reportedly around ₹50 crore; a sharp drop from the earlier figure. If finalised, this would mark a major dent in the film’s expected non-theatrical revenue. The final release date is also believed to depend on closing this OTT deal.

Backed by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan is said to be inspired by the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, revolving around a former officer who mentors a young girl and shapes her into a strong individual.
