Microsoft Names Asha Sharma as New Gaming CEO

California, Feb 21: Tech giant Microsoft has appointed Indian-origin technologist Asha Sharma as the new CEO of its Gaming division. She succeeds Phil Spencer, who has retired, and will now serve as both CEO and Vice President of Microsoft Gaming.

Asha Sharma will face challenges such as slowing revenue growth in gaming and intense global competition for gaming content. Before this role, she held senior positions at several major international technology companies. Most recently, she worked as a senior executive in Microsoft’s Artificial Intelligence division.

Microsoft also announced other leadership changes: senior executive Matt Booty has been promoted to Chief Content Officer, overseeing game studios and titles.

Asha Sharma earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. She began her career in Microsoft’s marketing division, left the company in 2013, and later worked in senior roles at various international tech firms. Two years ago, she rejoined Microsoft as a senior leader in the Core AI division.
