Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has announced that the state government will soon establish a world-class Sports University with international standards, aiming to nurture athletes capable of winning Olympic medals in the future.

“Our government’s primary objective is to identify and nurture hidden sporting talent, especially from rural areas where opportunities are often limited. We want to provide proper training and expose these talented individuals to the world stage,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the grand inauguration of the TG 20 Cricket League mega tournament at Uppal Stadium. On the occasion, he expressed confidence that the league would serve as a strong foundation for the development of sports and the bright future of athletes across the state.

“Earlier, cricket was largely considered a sport confined to cities. Our government has changed that perception by recognizing talent from every district for the first time. District-wise teams have been formed, creating a major platform for rural youth to showcase their abilities. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the people’s government is committed to prioritizing sports and encouraging athletes,” Bhatti Vikramarka stated.

The Deputy Chief Minister also revealed that Hyderabad will soon be home to a state-of-the-art Sports University equipped with world-class infrastructure and facilities. He noted that the announcement was made at the historic Uppal Stadium, which has previously hosted global football icon Lionel Messi.

He further emphasized that Telangana is building a robust sports ecosystem capable of providing Olympic-level training and creating pathways for athletes to excel on the international stage.

The TG 20 Cricket League which will run for 21 days, is expected to create a festive atmosphere for sports enthusiasts across the state. Bhatti Vikramarka assured that the Telangana government would extend full support and cooperation to ensure the tournament’s success.
