Prayagraj, Feb 1: A massive crowd of pilgrims gathered at the Sangam ghat on Maghi Purnima, the fifth bathing day of the Magh Mela on Sunday.
The Maghi Purnima bathing ritual began at 4:00 AM during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta.
Despite the biting cold, devotees are taking a dip in the holy waters during the auspicious Ravi Pushya Yoga.
Over 5 million devotees have already taken a dip so far.
The Mela administration has made extensive arrangements for the Maghi Purnima bathing festival.A 3.5-kilometer-long bathing ghat has been prepared.
The administration has estimated that one to one and a half crore devotees will arrive for Maghi Purnima. The Mela authority has deployed water police, NDRF, SDRF, Flood Company PAC, and divers at the bathing ghats.
Police, PAC, RAF, BDS, UP ATS commandos, and intelligence agencies are deployed at the Mela.
Every corner of the Magh Mela area is being monitored. Surveillance is being conducted using CCTV and drone cameras.
After Maghi Purnima, the Kalpavasis and saints will return leave the Magh Mela after around one month of their religious sojourn.
Meanwhile, a major fire broke out in Gata number 5 of Sector Two of the Magh Mela on Sunday morning.
The fire started at 7:45 AM in the Kalpavasi camp of Lalan Ji Panda.The fire was caused by a gas cylinder leak in the camp of Kalpavasi Ram Bahor Dubey while he was cooking.
The fire brigade reached the spot and, with the help of the people, brought the fire under control.
