HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a blistering attack on the ruling Congress party and the Telangana Police following a tense standoff near former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s (KCR) farmhouse residence in Erravalli. High drama unfolded after Congress workers and members of the party’s SC Cell staged a protest march toward Erravalli over alleged derogatory remarks made by BRS MLCs against Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Reacting strongly to the developments, KTR accused the Telangana Police of blatant bias and acting as facilitators for the ruling party. He alleged that while security forces actively provided escorts to Congress workers and allowed them to proceed freely toward KCR’s private residence, BRS leaders and legislators attempting to reach Erravalli were heavily barricaded and stopped.
“Police are facilitating Congress goons and rowdies who have been externed from the city, escorting them right up to KCR gari residence,” KTR stated while speaking to the media during the confrontation. He questioned the law-and-order machinery under the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy-led administration, alleging that state machinery was being used to intimidate opposition leadership and create political tension outside a former Chief Minister’s home.
The situation escalated when police intercepted vehicles carrying senior BRS figures—including KTR, T. Harish Rao, and several party MLAs—at Bollaram crossroads near Hakimpet to prevent them from reaching Erravalli. Refusing to back down, KTR and fellow legislators alighted from their vehicles and began marching on foot toward KCR’s residence to “protect” their party chief, leading to a brief detention of KTR and other leaders by the police.
KTR further stated that the Congress government was orchestrating “distraction politics” and state-sponsored provocation to divert public attention from its governance failures and the high-handed arrest of BRS MLCs. BRS cadres across the state have called for widespread demonstrations against the police action and the Congress party’s protest near Erravalli.
