Minister Vakiti Srihari Performs CPR as Official Collapses With Cardiac Arrest

HYDERABAD: Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari won widespread praise for his swift presence of mind on Tuesday morning after he stepped in to perform emergency Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on an employee who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on the Telangana Legislative Assembly premises. The victim, identified as Raju, was serving as the Personal Secretary (PS) to senior IAS officer Navin Mittal, Special Chief Secretary to the Government.

The incident took place during the ongoing legislative session when Raju suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed onto the floor inside the Assembly complex. Minister Vakiti Srihari, who was passing through the area at the time, immediately rushed over to assist. Recognizing the critical nature of the emergency, the minister began administering manual CPR compressions on the spot to revive Raju’s pulse while surrounding staff called for medical aid.

Assembly medical personnel quickly arrived at the location to assist the minister with emergency first aid. Raju was subsequently stabilized onto a stretcher and rushed via ambulance to a nearby hospital for advanced medical care. Despite the immediate medical intervention and the minister’s quick efforts, doctors at the hospital later pronounced Raju dead, confirming he had succumbed to a massive cardiac arrest.

Footage of Minister Vakiti Srihari performing CPR on the collapsed staffer circulated widely on social media and regional news networks, with political leaders, civil servants, and citizens commending his selfless response and immediate first-aid intervention during a life-threatening crisis.
