EC to Meet on Sept 12 Ritabrata Banerjee-led TMC Faction

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission will meet a five-member delegation of the Ritabrata Banerjee-led faction of the Trinamool Congress on September 12 in connection with the June 22 representation received by the poll panel from the group, which claims to be the “real” TMC and has staked a claim to the name and symbol of the party.

According to an official communication issued on Wednesday, the appointment has been fixed for 11 am at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in Dwarka, Delhi.

The communication, addressed to Ritabrata Banerjee, refers to his representation dated June 22 on the issue concerning the All India Trinamool Congress, a recognised political party in West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura.
