Kakinada, Jan 17: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan have laid the foundation stone for India’s largest green hydrogen-based Green Ammonia project in Kakinada. Developed by AM Green (a subsidiary of the Greenko Group), this project aims to export green ammonia to Germany, Japan, and Singapore.
The company is investing approximately ₹18,000 crore ($2 billion) into the construction of this facility. The project is expected to generate jobs for 8,000 people during the construction phase. Once operational, it will create significant employment opportunities through logistics, storage, and port services. The project is being developed in collaboration with international entities including Petronas (Malaysia), GIC (Singapore), and ADIA (UAE). The green ammonia will be exported to Uniper, a prominent energy company in Germany.
The government states that this will be the largest green ammonia complex in the country, spanning over 495 acres. The company fixed the target to complete the Phase 1 project in 2028 and Phase 2 project by 2030 respectively.
In addition to green ammonia, the facility will produce a 1,950 MW electrolyzer, further cementing its role in the global green energy transition.
