Singapore: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications, Nara Lokesh, arrived in Singapore on Monday, May 11, 2026, marking the start of a high-profile official visit aimed at attracting major foreign direct investment (FDI) and studying cutting-edge urban infrastructure models.

Upon his arrival at Changi International Airport, Minister Lokesh was received by senior diplomats and members of the Telugu diaspora. The visit is viewed as a strategic move to position Andhra Pradesh as India’s premier tech hub and to seek international collaborations for the ongoing construction and development of the capital city, Amaravati.

The Minister’s itinerary over the next few days features a packed schedule of high-level meetings with Singapore government officials, urban planners, and global technology captains:

Minister Lokesh is scheduled to meet with senior representatives from Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC). The discussions will center on adapting Singapore’s renowned urban planning, smart waste management, and sustainable housing models for Amaravati.

A key focus of the tour is a series of roundtable meetings with top venture capitalists, semiconductor manufacturers, and electronics giants based in Singapore. Minister Lokesh will pitch Andhra Pradesh’s newly designed IT policies, highlighting the speed of single-window clearances, skilled youth talent pool, and plug-and-play infrastructure available in cities like Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Anantapur.

The IT Minister will also study Singapore’s advanced e-governance systems. The government of Andhra Pradesh intends to leverage these insights to implement seamless, paperless administrative services across the state, ensuring transparent and real-time public delivery systems.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival, Nara Lokesh emphasized that his primary focus remains on job creation and bringing the best global technologies to Andhra Pradesh. “Singapore has always been a trusted partner in Andhra Pradesh’s developmental journey. This visit is about renewing that bond, bringing the world’s best industrial practices home, and creating high-quality employment opportunities for our youth,” he stated.

The delegation’s visit is expected to pave the way for several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the fields of digital technology, green energy, and technical education. Following the Singapore tour, Minister Lokesh is expected to return to Andhra Pradesh to immediately brief the cabinet on the investment proposals generated during the trip.
