Hyderabad, Jan 26: On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day, BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao unfurled the National Flag at the BJP State Party Office, Nampally, and addressed party karyakartas and members of the media.
During which, he alleged that the Congress party has a long history of undermining constitutional values. “In 1951, during the Nehru era, the Constitution was amended through an ordinance even before an elected government was fully established, curbing freedom of expression. During the Indira Gandhi era, the Emergency witnessed the suspension of fundamental rights, mass arrests, curbs on the judiciary, and suppression of press freedom” alleged Ramchander Rao.
He alleged that the Rajiv Gandhi government overturned the Supreme Court’s Shah Bano verdict for vote-bank politics, and in the Rahul Gandhi era, a cabinet-approved ordinance was publicly torn by Rahul Gandhi, displaying Congress Party’sutter disregard for constitutional institutions. According to his this record exposes Congress as a party that has repeatedly insulted the Constitution.
Ramchander Rao said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, constitutional amendments have been undertaken to strengthen social justice and national unity, including granting constitutional status to the OBC Commission, providing 10% reservation to Economically Weaker Sections, abrogation of Article 370, and passing the CAA which ensures dignity and protection to persecuted minorities from neighbouring countries in line with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision. He added that while Congress has always attempted to marginalise Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the BJP has honoured Babasaheb with true respect by celebrating his 125th birth anniversary in 120 countries, naming the digital payments platform BHIM after him, developing the Panchteerth associated with his life, and declaring 26 November as Constitution Day.
