BRS Holds Mass Consultation at Telangana Bhavan Over Prohibited 22A Land Listings

HYDERABAD: Tensions over land rights and revenue administration escalated in Telangana as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) convened a large-scale interaction at its headquarters in Telangana Bhavan. Party leaders met with a massive gathering of affected farmers, agricultural workers, and plot owners whose holdings were recently placed under the controversial Section 22A Prohibited List.

Led by BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao, the forum provided an avenue for aggrieved property holders from Medchal-Malkajigiri, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, and neighboring districts to voice their hardships. Farmers presented land records and passbooks, detailing how valid private patta lands and ancestral holdings were abruptly locked on state registration portals, leaving them unable to secure agricultural bank loans, complete legal partitions, or execute land sales.

During the proceedings, BRS leaders accused the state administration of severe mismanagement, alleging that over one crore acres of land across Telangana have been arbitrarily shoved into the prohibited category. Highlighting the sharp increase from the 16 lakh acres categorized under 22A during their previous tenure, the opposition party claimed that district collectors were coerced into drafting lists that unfairly targeted innocent landowners.

To assist those affected, Harish Rao announced the setup of a dedicated legal cell at Telangana Bhavan manned by senior advocate panels to offer free legal guidance. The BRS demanded the immediate and unconditional removal of private properties from the prohibited registry, warning of state-wide protests at district collectorates if the revenue department fails to rectify the data entries.
