‘Cheekatilo’ trailer unveiled, Sobhita Dhulipala steps into dark crime thriller

New Delhi, Jan 13 (UNI) The trailer of Sobhita Dhulipala’s upcoming crime thriller ‘Cheekatilo’ was unveiled, offering a tense and gripping preview of the film.
The story follows Sandhya, a true-crime podcaster played by Dhulipala, who uses her podcast to unravel the secrets of a serial killer whose crimes date back more than two decades.
Set against the shadowy underbelly of Hyderabad, the trailer introduces Sandhya as a criminology graduate drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse after a shocking murder exposes a chilling trail of past crimes.
As Sandhya digs deeper, she turns her podcast into an investigative weapon, attempting to provoke and expose the cold-blooded killer.
The suspense intensifies as the pursuit of truth and justice leads toward a disturbing revelation, raising the question of whether the truth will prevail, or if Sandhya herself will become the killer’s next target.
‘Cheekatilo’ is directed by Sharan Kopishetty and produced by D Suresh Babu under the banner of Suresh Productions Pvt Ltd. The screenplay is written by Chandra Pemmaraju and Sharan Kopishetty.
Alongside Sobhita Dhulipala, the film stars Viswadev Rachakonda in a lead role, with Chaitanya Visalakshmi, Esha Chawla, Jhansi, Aamani, and Vadlamani Srinivas playing pivotal characters.
Speaking about the film, director and co-writer Sharan Kopishetty said that Cheekatilo goes beyond conventional crime suspense.
“This film explores the darker, deeply human layers beneath a seemingly straightforward crime story. At its core, it reflects resilience, the fight against silence and power, and the courage it takes to bring justice to the forefront,” he said.
He added that partnering with Prime Video has helped bring their bold and authentic vision to a global audience and praised the cast for their powerful performances.
Dhulipala described playing Sandhya as a deeply fulfilling experience. “She’s a strong, independent thinker who stands firmly by her beliefs despite resistance. Her stubbornness and inner strength are shaped by a personal history,” she said.
Dhulipala added that portraying a character rooted in the by-lanes of Hyderabad felt natural and seamless, given her own cultural connection to the region.
Expressing gratitude to the cast and crew, she said being part of a Prime Original project was special. “From ‘Made in Heaven’ to ‘Cheekatilo’, it has been a journey of shared growth and a commitment to pushing creative boundaries through compelling storytelling,” she added.
The Telugu-language thriller ‘Cheekatilo’ will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on Jan 23, streaming across India and in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
