CM Revanth Reddy Reviews Telangana Sports Policy

Hyderabad, March 9: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy today chaired a review meeting in Hyderabad on the State’s sports policy, stressing the need to strengthen infrastructure, nurture young talent, and build a medal-winning ecosystem ahead of upcoming national and international competitions.

The CM reiterated that the sports policy is aimed at bringing youth “back to the ground” by encouraging participation in athletics, football, cricket, and indigenous games. Plans include upgrading stadiums, building new training centers, and ensuring rural areas have access to basic sports facilities. The Sports Authority of Telangana will intensify scouting programs to identify promising athletes at the school and district levels.

He emphasized that the policy is not symbolic but a roadmap to help Telangana athletes compete for medals at the Olympics and other global events. Officials were directed to prepare a timeline for rolling out infrastructure projects and training programs, with regular reviews to monitor progress.

The Telangana Sports Policy, unveiled in August 2025, was described as a comprehensive framework for governance, infrastructure, and athlete development. Hyderabad’s rich sporting legacy, particularly in football, was highlighted as a foundation to revive through systematic investment and planning.

This review signals the government’s intent to move beyond announcements and ensure on-ground execution of the sports policy, while also positioning the CM as a champion of Telangana’s sporting revival.
