UDAIPUR, Feb 25: While the world of cinema prepares for the union of two of its biggest stars, the “Wedding of Virosh” has taken an unexpectedly sporty turn. Ahead of their main ceremony on February 26, Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda have traded the red carpet for the cricket pitch, hosting the inaugural Virosh Premier League (VPL) in the heart of Udaipur.
The pre-wedding celebrations, held at the luxurious Mementos by ITC Hotels, saw family and close friends split into two competitive squads: Team Rashmika and Team Vijay. Far from a standard celebrity match, the VPL featured high-end personalization that left fans on social media in awe. Glimpses shared by the couple revealed custom gear, including cream-colored wooden bats engraved with the wedding date and white-ribboned commemorative medals. The name “Virosh”—a portmanteau created by fans years ago—was officially adopted for the league, appearing on flags, popcorn buckets, and field markers.
Insiders report that the match was a “gully cricket” style face-off designed to break the ice between the two families. In a blurry huddle photo shared by Rashmika, guests were seen in customized jerseys and caps, emphasizing the couple’s desire for an intimate, fun-filled atmosphere over traditional formality. “With so much love, you gave us a name. You called us ‘Virosh’. So today, we name our coming together in your honor,” the couple shared in a joint statement earlier this week.
The Virosh Premier League is just one highlight of a multi-day itinerary that has blended athletic fun with high-end elegance. The festivities began with pool volleyball on February 23, followed by a sophisticated Japanese-themed dinner. Following the conclusion of the VPL, the couple will proceed with traditional Haldi and Sangeet ceremonies before officially tying the knot tomorrow. After the private Udaipur affair, a grand reception is scheduled for March 4 at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad for the wider film fraternity.
