Munich, Feb 15: Pakistan’s Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), Asim Munir, has once again made headlines. While attending an event abroad, he faced an awkward situation when security personnel stopped him and asked to show his ID card. A video of this incident has gone viral.
Munir had arrived in Germany with his delegation to participate in the Munich Security Conference. As he was heading towards the venue, a female security officer tried to stop him, saying: “Wait… where is your ID? Keep your card visible.” This left Munir slightly embarrassed.
Some commentators described this as a diplomatic embarrassment, while others argued that such protocols are normal at high-level international events.
Former Pakistani military officer Adil Raja reacted strongly, saying that Munir is not recognized on global platforms. He mocked that even gatekeepers asked him to identify himself, and Munir had to humbly introduce himself.
Meanwhile, protests erupted against Munir’s participation in the conference. Several political organizations in Germany expressed opposition, accusing the Pakistani military of human rights violations. Demonstrations were held at the venue.
