DMK Leader Sentenced to 3 Years for Remarks Against TN Governor

Chennai, Feb 15: DMK leader Shivaji Krishnamurthy has been sentenced to three years in prison for making inappropriate remarks against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi. The Egmore Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Chennai also imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000.

Krishnamurthy had previously made offensive comments not only against the Governor but also against BJP leader Khushbu and AIADMK leaders. The case dates back to 2023, when Governor Ravi skipped certain portions of his speech in the state assembly. Criticizing this, Krishnamurthy allegedly made derogatory remarks, which went viral in video form. Following this, the Kodungaiyur police registered a case. After trial, the court has now delivered its verdict, sentencing the DMK leader to imprisonment.
