New Delhi, Jan 29: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey of India in the Parliament on Thursday
The Economic Survey, prepared by the Economic Division of the Finance Ministry under the guidance of the Chief Economic Adviser, provides a comprehensive analysis of the country’s current economic condition, highlighting key trends, challenges, and achievements.
In addition to assessing the present state of the economy, the Survey also presents a forward-looking outlook, offering insights and projections for the upcoming fiscal year and signaling potential policy directions.
The Economic Survey will be followed by the union Budget for 2026–27, which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present on February 1.
Further, union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol will table documents related to the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA).
In addition, a statement reviewing the working of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India, New Delhi, for the year 2024-25 will be presented before the House.
As per the agenda, the House will first take up Question Hour, with questions listed separately to be asked and answered by the concerned Ministers. This will be followed by the laying of papers on the Table by members of the union Council of Ministers.
Sitharaman is scheduled to lay papers pertaining to the Ministry of Finance, while Murlidhar Mohol will lay papers related to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The day’s agenda also includes the formal laying of eight Bills that have been passed by both Houses of Parliament during the Sixth Session of the 18th Lok Sabha and have subsequently received the President’s assent.
The 13th Report of the Business Advisory Committee will also be presented. The report will be presented by Kiren Rijiju and Kodikunnil Suresh, as listed in the agenda.
The Budget Session will span 30 sittings over 65 days and conclude on April 2. Parliament will adjourn for a recess on February 13 and reconvene on March 9, allowing Standing Committees to examine the Demands for Grants of various ministries and departments.
Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was held on Tuesday, where leaders from across the political spectrum shared issues they intend to raise and assured cooperation for the smooth functioning of Parliament.The all-party meeting was attended by 51 Leaders from 39 political parties, including Ministers.
The leaders were informed that the Budget Session of Parliament, 2026, will commence on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, and, subject to the exigencies of government business, may conclude on Thursday, April 2, 2026. During this period, both Houses will be adjourned for a recess on Friday, February 13, 2026, and will reassemble on Monday, March 9, 2026, to enable the Standing Committees to examine the Demands for Grants of various ministries and departments and submit their reports thereon.
The session will comprise a total of 30 sittings-13 in the first part and 17 in the second part, spread over a period of 65 days.
