Karimnagar SI Dies by Suicide Days After Wife’s Passing
Karimnagar, March 21: In a deeply distressing turn of events, Chandrasekhar, a Sub-Inspector (SI) attached to the Karimnagar Town-II Police Station, allegedly died by suicide on Saturday morning. This tragedy follows just days after his wife, Divya, also ended her life, leaving the local community and the police department in a state of profound shock.
According to preliminary reports, Chandrasekhar was found hanging at his in-laws’ residence in Sithampet village, located in the Jammikunta mandal. Family members discovered him on Saturday morning and immediately rushed him to a government hospital in Jammikunta. Despite their efforts, doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.
The SI’s death appears to be a direct consequence of the immense grief following the loss of his wife earlier this week. On March 17, Divya allegedly consumed toxic oleander seeds at their residence in Hanumannagar while Chandrasekhar was on duty. She was later shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment but passed away on Wednesday. During her funeral, tensions reportedly flared among relatives, and the emotional weight of the week’s events proved devastating for the officer.
Married in 2016, the couple leaves behind two young sons, aged 10 and 6. The sudden loss of both parents in a span of five days has left the children orphaned and both families in mourning. Local police have registered a case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the SI’s death. Senior officials from the Karimnagar police department visited the site to express their condolences, noting the heavy emotional toll this incident has taken on the entire force.
