Millions take holy dip at Prayagraj Sangam on Basant Panchmi

Prayagraj, Jan 23: Basant Panchami, the festival marking the arrival of spring and the worship of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, is being celebrated in the Sangam city on Friday with devotion and enthusiasm.
On this, a large number of devotees from all corners of the country have gathered to take a holy dip in Saraswati river in Prayagraj. Authorities have expected that around 20 million devotees are expected to take a dip in Sangam on the occasion of Basant Panchami during the ongoing Magh Mela.
Already over 9 million devotees have taken bath in Sangam till 8 AM, authorities claimed. Devotees are taking a dip in the waters of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the Saraswati at the Triveni Sangam and offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati, seeking knowledge and wisdom.
In the numerous pandals set up at the Magh Mela in Sangam, prayers and aarti are being offered to appease Goddess Saraswati. A massive crowd of devotees has gathered at the Sangam on the occasion of Basant Panchami. Every road leading to the Sangam is packed with devotees.
Devotees from all over the country are taking a dip in the waters of the invisible Saraswati and the Ganga-Yamuna rivers to attain spiritual merit. On this occasion, devotees pray to Goddess Ganga and Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, for the fulfillment of their wishes. On Basant Panchami, young people are seeking the blessings of Saraswati, and householders are praying for wisdom.
