Sensex Surges 1,109 Points; Investors Gain ₹4.12 Lakh Crore

MUMBAI: Indian stock markets staged a strong recovery on Tuesday, October 13, as robust buying in information technology stocks lifted investor sentiment. The BSE Sensex jumped 1,109.10 points, or 1.54 per cent, to close at 73,033.78, while the NSE Nifty 50 advanced 358.60 points, or 1.60 per cent, to settle at 22,721.95. The rally added approximately ₹4.12 lakh crore to investors’ wealth, according to market reports.

IT stocks led the gains following encouraging quarterly results from HCLTech and renewed buying in Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). HCLTech surged 8.4 per cent, while TCS gained 6.8 per cent. The Nifty IT index climbed 5.2 per cent, recording its strongest performance in more than 17 months.

The recovery followed Monday’s losses, although concerns over crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions and foreign investor outflows remain. Investors will closely monitor corporate earnings and global developments to assess whether the rally can continue.
