New Delhi, March 6: Two sisters aged 33 and 28 were found dead in South Delhi while their 55-year-old mother was discovered in an unconscious state after police broke open the door of their Malviya Nagar home on Thursday evening. Initial suspicion is that the mother may have killed her two daughters before attempting suicide. However, the sequence of events and possible motive are expected to become clear only after the woman regains consciousness.
On Thursday evening, the Delhi Police received a call around 6:10 pm regarding a door locked from the inside for an unusually long time in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.
A team from Delhi Police reached the spot and broke the door open. Officers discovered the body of one woman with a pillow placed on her face, while another was found in a separate room with a ligature around her neck. Both victims were identified as sisters, aged around 33 and 28.
The mother, believed to be around 55 years old, was found unconscious in another room. She was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where she remains under treatment in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the mother allegedly killed both daughters before attempting to take her own life. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, while Crime and Forensic Science Laboratory teams have inspected the scene and collected evidence.
Police said they are waiting for the woman to regain consciousness, so that her statement can be recorded. Meanwhile, investigators are questioning relatives and neighbours to determine the motive behind the incident. The case remains under investigation.
