Chennai, Feb 13: The Stalin government has announced a bonanza for women. An amount of Rs. 5,000 has been credited into women’s bank accounts. On Friday morning, cash was deposited for 1.31 crore beneficiaries, and many women expressed joy upon seeing the credited amount on their mobile phones.
Under the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme, the government has been providing Rs. 1,000 per month. Now, this has been increased to Rs. 2,000. Along with this hike, the government has credited Rs. 3,000 for February, March, and April, plus an additional Rs. 2,000 as a summer special package, making a total of Rs. 5,000 deposited today.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin tweeted: “This Women’s Rights Grant is my promise to the women of Tamil Nadu. Even if obstacles are created, I will not step back. Some tried to block the grant for three months citing elections, but our Dravidian Model government acted ahead of them. Today, ₹5,000 has been credited to 13.1 million beneficiaries under the Kalaignar Women’s Rights Scheme. Under Dravidian Model 2.0, we will increase the monthly grant from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. This is my commitment to my sisters.”
Meanwhile, the Election Commission is expected to release the final voters’ list on Sunday, followed by the election schedule on Monday. Reports suggest the election process may conclude in March–April, with schedules for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, and Assam to be announced together.
