Telangana Govt Extends Upper Age Limit for Police Constable Aspirants

HYDERABAD: In a major relief to thousands of job aspirants across the state, the Telangana government and the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) have announced an extension of the upper age limit for Police Constable and equivalent posts.

The State Government issued an official order relaxing the maximum age threshold by an additional 3 years over and above the existing age relaxations granted earlier. With this latest extension, candidates applying for uniformed direct recruitment drives across the Police, Fire Services, Prisons, Special Protection Force (SPF), Excise, and Forest departments receive a cumulative age relaxation of up to 10 years over the base eligibility criteria.

The decision follows widespread representations submitted by unemployed youth associations and job aspirants across Telangana. Aspirants had urged the administration to address the disparity between the maximum entry age for Sub-Inspector (SI) posts and Police Constable posts, as well as compensate for recruitment delays caused by technical and administrative adjustments in state service rules.

With this revised order, the effective upper age limit for general category candidates applying for constable posts moves to 32 years (up from the base 22 years), while candidates belonging to SC, ST, BC, and EWS categories can now apply up to 37 years of age. The government and the recruitment board have also extended the online application deadlines to accommodate newly eligible candidates who wish to apply for the ongoing recruitment drives.
