Addanki, March 25: Former CM and YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy made significant comments during a meeting with party leaders and workers from the Addanki constituency. During the session, he discussed the current political climate extensively and launched a scathing attack on the state government.
Addanki is a Winnable Seat
Jagan clarified that Addanki is not an unwinnable constituency. He stated that there is strong public resentment against the current government, particularly against the ministers. He criticized Chandrababu Naidu for failing to fulfill the promises made during the elections. Jagan alleged that while the current CM canceled schemes implemented during the YSRCP tenure, he failed to deliver on his own “Super Six” and “Super Seven” guarantees.
Response to Delimitation
Y.S. Jagan described the delimitation of constituencies as a positive development and expressed happiness over the increase in reservations for women. He reminded the gathering that his administration had prioritized women’s empowerment. He noted that the increase in seats would provide more leadership opportunities for party grassroots workers.
Clarification on Debts and Welfare
Jagan provided an explanation regarding the debts incurred during his government’s tenure. He stated that while they borrowed ₹3.31 lakh crore over five years, ₹2.72 lakh crore of that amount went directly into people’s bank accounts. He emphasized that every rupee could be accounted for via Aadhaar and bank records. In contrast, he alleged that the current government has borrowed over ₹3.37 lakh crore in less than two years. He further claimed that corruption has become rampant in sectors like liquor, sand, soil, silica, and granite, and alleged massive irregularities in Amaravati construction costs.
Allegations of “Credit Theft” on Investments
Regarding investments, Jagan accused the current government of “stealing credit” for projects like the ArcelorMittal steel plant, Google, and the Bulk Drug Park, which he claimed were initiated during his term. He also highlighted the plight of farmers, stating they are not receiving fair prices for crops like maize, chickpeas, bananas, and tomatoes. Additionally, he noted that delays in fee reimbursement are forcing students to drop out, leading to a decline in enrollment at government schools.
Assurance to Party Workers
Jagan promised that in “Jagan 2.0,” party workers would be given even greater importance. He assured that those who work hard for the party would be provided with opportunities. He expressed confidence that the public would benefit more through the dedicated efforts of party workers. Overall, while criticizing the current administration, Jagan signaled his future political strategies during the Addanki meeting.
