TVK Founder Vijay forms Campaign Committee ahead of TN Assembly polls

Chennai, Jan 17: Having making the right moves ahead of testing his maiden electoral fortunes with the key elections to the Tamil Nadu fast approaching, the nascent and fledgling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President and actor-politician-turned neta Vijay has constituted a 10-member committee to coordinate election campaign works of the party in all the 234 constituencies in the State.


The committee, comprising senior party leaders, would coordinate with the district and Assembly segment levels and devise the campaign strategy for the polls, to strengthen the party affairs and galvanise the workers in achieving its goal of dethroning the ruling DMK, which Vijay had said that it was his political enemy and that the polls was between a straight between his party and DMK.


The campaign committee consisted of TVK General Secretary N. Bussy Anand, Additional General Secretary of the election campaign management Aadhav Arjuna, former AIADMK Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan, who had joined the party after being expelled by the party for raising the banner of unity and demanding re-induction of ousted leaders and was made the Chief Coordinator of the TVK’s high-level administrative committee, and others.


In a statement. here, Vijay said the committee will coordinate campaign details and the election rallies to be addressed by him, besides other poll-related activities in all the constituencies.
The constitution of the campaign committee comes in the backdrop of Vijay forming a 10-member manifesto drafting committee to elicit public opinion and suggestions by extensively touring all the Assembly segments and recommend the issues to be included in the manifesto.
The election campaign committee will also oversee the preparatory work for the Assembly elections and urged all the TVK cadre to extend their full cooperation to the committee.
