New Delhi, Jan 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to the people of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura as the three northeastern states marked their Statehood Day.
In a post on social media X, Modi congratulated the people of the three states and conveyed his best wishes for their future. “Today, three states of the North East-Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura—are celebrating their Statehood Day. On this occasion, my heartiest congratulations to all my brothers and sisters here,” the PM said.
Modi expressed hope that the people of the three states would continue to work for progress in all areas.
“May they achieve success in every field of life through their own efforts—that is my sincerest wish,” Modi added.
Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura attained statehood on January 21, 1972, marking an important milestone in India’s post-Independence political reorganisation.
The day is observed annually in the three states with official functions, cultural programmes and public events celebrating their history, identity and contributions to the nation.
