Punjab Police Constable Wins ₹7-Crore Lottery

FEROZEPUR: A routine lottery ticket purchase transformed into a life-changing fortune for 28-year-old Punjab Police constable Gurpreet Singh, who bagged the grand ₹7-crore first prize in the state’s Rakhi Bumper Draw. Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Malwal Qadeem village in Ferozepur district, joined the police force in 2022 and currently serves on the 112 emergency helpline response team. He had bought the winning ticket on a casual whim while visiting Ferozepur city for personal work. The news of the life-changing win reached him unexpectedly on a Sunday morning while he was performing sewa (voluntary service) at Gurdwara Vajidpur Sahib.

The sudden windfall triggered widespread jubilation across his home village, drawing crowds of relatives, neighbors, and fellow police personnel to his family home to offer congratulations. Gurpreet comes from a modest background; his father, Darshan Singh, retired as a Railway train guard in 2019, and Gurpreet is one of four siblings. Describing the win as a dream come true, he expressed gratitude for the stroke of luck while maintaining his dedication to continuing his public service duty.

The winning ticket was sold by N K Agency at Udham Singh Chowk in Ferozepur, where agency owner Trilok Singh and his team joined in the local celebrations, noting that it was the largest lottery jackpot ever claimed by a resident in their border district.
