HYDERABAD: Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared glimpses of her traditional Seemantham (baby shower) ceremony on social media, marking an intimate, spiritually deep milestone alongside her husband, filmmaker Raj Nidimoru.
Rooted in ancient esoteric practices, the ceremony followed the Sri Vidya tradition—a esoteric form of Goddess worship centered on sacred geometry, Vedic mantras, and inner energy awakening.
Guided by a Sri Vidya Upaasaka (specialized priest), the traditional rites went beyond conventional baby shower festivities. The primary ritual performed was the Kalaa Aavarana (or Sri Kalpam), which honors the 94 kalas (divine aspects) of the Mother Goddess.
Sacred water and Vedic mantras were used to ritually cleanse and channel divine energy through the seven chakras of the mother-to-be. Following the sacred Udakashanthi Abhishekam bath, Samantha was seated at the center of a Sri Chakra Yantram. The geometric structure consists of nine aavaranas (enclosures) representing the journey of spiritual creation. Priests chanted the sacred Khadgamaala Stotram, systematically moving from the outer geometric layers to the inner central bindu—symbolizing Goddess Lalita Tripurasundari.
In an emotional note, Samantha reflected on the profound impact of the ancient Vedic chants and symbolism. “What moved me most was the way the mother is seen through this ritual. She is honoured as Devi herself, as the sacred creator through whom another life is taking form. It is a blessing for the child growing within her and also for the woman who is being born into a new version of herself.”
Dressed in light ethnic attire with garland adornments, the actor was joined by close family members who offered blessings during the sacred chants. The intimate ceremony comes following her box-office success in Maa Inti Bangaaram as the couple prepares to welcome their first child.
