ACB Conducts Raids on Mining AD Bojja Jayaraj Over Disproportionate Assets

HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials launched comprehensive simultaneous raids targeting Bojja Jayaraj, the Assistant Director (AD) of the Mines and Geology Department for Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. The crackdowns were initiated early Thursday morning following credible allegations of accumulating assets far disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Led by Warangal ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sambaiah and supervised by ACB Joint Director Sai Manohar, enforcement teams carried out searches across 12 locations. The operations spanned Jayaraj’s residence in Boduppal, Hyderabad, as well as properties in Bhupalpally, Suryapet, and Tandur (Vikarabad district) belonging to his relatives and close associates. Simultaneously, an ACB team headed by Inspector Prem Kumar inspected Jayaraj’s official chamber inside the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Bhupalpally, detaining a department employee for detailed interrogation.

Initial search proceedings recovered substantial undocumented wealth, including ₹1.5 lakh in cash at his residence, ₹60 lakh maintained in bank accounts, and 40 tolas of gold jewelry. Investigating officers also seized documents for a G+1 residential building in Boduppal, five acres of agricultural land in Jangaon district, two cars, and two motorcycles.

Jayaraj, who also held full additional charge as the In-charge AD for neighboring Mulugu district, had long faced recurring complaints regarding illegal sand transport and collusion with local quarry operators. The raid has sent shockwaves through the state administration, as Jayaraj was recently honored with a “Best Officer” award during the official Independence Day celebrations just days prior to the enforcement action. ACB officials stated that asset valuation and document scrutiny will continue through the evening before the final inventory of disproportionate assets is formally submitted.
