Amaravati, Feb 19: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju has issued legal notices to Sakshi Media, alleging that the organization has published false and defamatory stories intended to damage his reputation. The notices, served on February 19, 2026, were addressed to Indira Television Managing Director Y. S. Bharathi Reddy, along with the editor, bureau chief, and members of the board of directors.
Raju accused Sakshi Media of deliberately portraying him in a negative light through what he described as “malicious and misleading reporting.” He demanded an immediate public apology and withdrawal of the contested stories. In addition, he sought Rs. 1 crore in damages, stating that the compensation would be donated to farmers in Amaravati.
The Deputy Speaker warned that if the media group failed to comply, he would pursue both civil and criminal proceedings. His lawyer, Umesh Chandra, formally issued the notices on his behalf.
This move comes amid heightened political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, with Raju frequently criticizing the YSR Congress Party and its affiliated media outlets. The defamation notice signals his intent to challenge what he views as orchestrated attempts at character assassination.
