Hyderabad, Feb 19: Telangana Jagruthi president and former MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, today confirmed that she will launch a new political party, ending months of speculation about her political future.
Speaking at a press meet, Kavitha said all preparations for the party formation have been completed and the official announcement will be made in the first week of May 2026, choosing an auspicious date. She revealed that the party’s name will definitely include the word “Telangana”, underscoring its commitment to the state’s identity and self-respect.
Kavitha described the new party as a platform dedicated to public welfare, inclusive development, and youth empowerment, positioning it as a secular and transparent alternative in Telangana politics. She emphasized that the party would fight for the dignity of Telangana people and provide a voice to those neglected in the current political system.
She also hinted at contesting the upcoming elections from either Siddipet or Bodhan, adding that her decision would be guided by people’s support.
This announcement marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, with Kavitha seeking to carve out her own space after her suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Political analysts say her move could reshape alliances and voter dynamics ahead of the next assembly elections
