
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police (CTP) has conducted a special drunk driving enforcement drive over the weekend, resulting in the apprehension of 293 offenders.
The total cases booked 241 two wheelers, 11 three wheelers, 39 four wheelers and two heavy vehicles based on their Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels 244 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 36 mg/100 ml to 200 mg/100 ml, 26 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 201 mg/100 ml to 300 mg/100 ml , 23 offenders had BAC levels ranging from 301 mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml. All the offenders will be produced before the Court.
Cyberabad Police reiterate that driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious offence. If anyone is found to be driving in an inebriated condition and causes a fatal accident, such individuals will be booked under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder). The maximum punishment under this section is 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine.
In the last week ( May 25 to 30) a total 173 drunk driving cases were disposed in the courts, in which four persons got fine along with Jail, five persons got fine and social service, 164 persons got fine only.
Hyderabad Traffic Police has conducted a two-day special drive on May 29 & 30against drunken driving to ensure road safety. During the special drive, total of 475 drivers were caught driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
A total cases booked 397 two-wheeler riders, 36 three-wheelers and 42 were four-wheeler and other vehicle drivers.
The BAC levels: 30-50 (90) cases, 51-100 (202) cases, 101-150 (96) cases, 151-200 (43) cases, 201-250 (24) cases, 251-300 (11) cases and 300 above (9) cases were booked. There will be zero tolerance on Drunk & drive violations and this special drive will continue.
