Dense Fog Disrupts Flights at Gannavaram Airport

Vijayawada, March 6: Dense fog covered Gannavaram Airport in Andhra Pradesh, causing major disruption to flight operations. On Friday morning, visibility dropped so low that safe landing clearance could not be given.

Flights arriving from Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Singapore had to circle in the air for extended periods before finally being allowed to land. One Indigo flight from Hyderabad was unable to land at all and was diverted to Rajahmundry Airport.

This incident highlights how seasonal fog often affects regional airports like Gannavaram, which lack advanced landing systems compared to larger hubs. Passengers faced long delays, and airlines had to coordinate closely with air traffic control to manage diversions and ensure safety.
