Fire Brigade Washing BJP MLA’s Innova Triggers Row In Madhya Pradesh

SINGRAULI: A controversy has erupted in Madhya Pradesh after a video went viral on social media showing a government fire brigade vehicle being used to wash the private SUV of a ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA.

The viral clip, recorded outside the official residence of Singrauli constituency MLA Ramniwas Shah in Bilounji, shows three municipal fire brigade personnel using a high-pressure hose attached to a fire tender to clean his Toyota Innova. Emergency service vehicles are strictly governed under municipal department rules and reserved for fire emergencies or designated public utility work. The sight of emergency equipment being used for vehicle maintenance sparked public criticism over the alleged misuse of official resources.

The Opposition Congress condemned the incident, describing it as an explicit abuse of power. Congress leaders highlighted that state guidelines prohibit using fire department equipment for washing private vehicles, demanding immediate accountability and departmental action against those responsible. Meanwhile, Singrauli Municipal Corporation Commissioner Savita Pradhan stated that the matter had just been brought to her attention and that official inquiries into the incident would be made. MLA Ramniwas Shah and his official representatives have not yet issued a formal clarification regarding the incident.

The video quickly gained traction across social media platforms. Citizens and observers questioned why municipal crew members and essential emergency equipment were deployed for personal tasks while being funded by taxpayer money. Local administration officials are under growing pressure to clarify whether disciplinary measures will be initiated.
