Jagityal, March 25: Senior leader and former minister Jeevan Reddy has resigned from the Congress party, ending a 42-year association. On Wednesday, Jeevan Reddy held a meeting with his followers in Jagityal, where he voiced sharp criticism against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and other party leaders. Expressing his deep distress, he stated that he had faced numerous difficulties and humiliations within the party and announced that he is sending his resignation letter to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge.
“Revanth Reddy got the opportunity to become CM only through the hard work of Congress workers,” Jeevan Reddy remarked. “I wrote to the high command in October 2024 regarding the situation in the party. These past two years have been spent in humiliation. My supporter, Gangareddy, was brutally murdered in broad daylight. Should there be no response when a Congress worker is killed so violently? There was not even a basic visit or word of consolation from CM Revanth to that family. No assurance was given to support them. Every time I see that family, I feel immense pain.”
He further added, “Despite being a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), I was forced to take to the streets. All this time, the party and the government did not stand by me. It is not about the position; it is about respect. What happened to the promise made by PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud? Fighting is not new to me—now I will fight against Revanth himself. How long must these insults continue? I have reached this level with the support of my workers and followers. The development that took place in Jagityal has not even happened in Kodangal.”
