“I have never opposed Telangana projects” says AP CM Chandrababu

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu stated that he never obstructed projects built in Telangana. He questioned the objection to utilizing excess water from Polavaram for Nallamala Sagar, noting that Telangana could also utilize remaining water. He mentioned that the Nallamala Sagar project would provide water to Rayalaseema and parts of Prakasam district without causing harm to anyone. He described Polavaram as a magnificent project, stating that once completed, no other state in South India could compete with Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking at a review meeting with ministers and secretaries at the Secretariat, Chandrababu noted that the year 2025 yielded positive results. He informed the ministers that the coalition government has upheld the hopes of the state’s people and restored their confidence. He remarked that governance has been brought back on track from a previously collapsed system. He credited the “Super Six” schemes for accelerating welfare and development and urged everyone to work even harder this year. The meeting covered topics including GSDP, RTGS, and pattadar passbooks.

Key Welfare Measures and Achievements spoken by AP CM

  • Thalliki Vandanam: ₹10,090 crore deposited into the accounts of 67 lakh mothers of students.
  • Stree Shakti Scheme: 35 million women utilized free travel, costing the state ₹1,114 crore so far.
  • Annadata Sukhibhava: ₹6,310 crore deposited into the accounts of 46 lakh farmers.
  • Pensions: A new milestone in welfare was achieved by distributing ₹50,000 crore in pensions over the last year and a half.

Infrastructure and Irrigation

The CM recalled how Amaravati was previously mocked as a “graveyard” or a “desert,” asserting instead that it is an inspirational project where farmers are active partners in development.

Industrial Growth and Investments

  • Bhogapuram Airport: To be dedicated to the nation soon.
  • Visakha Steel Plant: CM Naidu emphasized that the plant is a matter of “Andhra sentiment” and was saved with the help of the Central Government. He vowed to protect it permanently.
  • Foreign Investment: He revealed that 25% of all foreign investments entering India came to Andhra Pradesh, making the state a top destination.
  • Job Creation: The State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) has approved investments worth ₹8.74 lakh crore, which are expected to generate large-scale employment.
