Iconic Balapur Ganesh Laddu Auctioned for ₹39 Lakh in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Continuing its long-standing tradition of grand bids and spiritual fervor, the famous Balapur Ganesh laddu prasadam created history by fetching an all-time high bid of ₹39 lakh during the annual auction held on Anantha Chaturdashi. Local businessman Sama Praneeth Reddy, a resident of Vanasthalipuram and head of Urban Groups, emerged victorious among fierce competitors to secure the revered 21-kg sacred offering. The winning bid surpassed the previous record of ₹35 lakh set in 2025 by ₹4 lakh, highlighting the deep-seated belief among devotees that winning the auction brings health, prosperity, and immense success in business ventures.

Held in the presence of thousands of cheering devotees, community leaders, and elected representatives, the high-decibel auction commenced shortly after the morning maha aarti performed by the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi. Bidding started with intense momentum as established local figures and several first-time registered bidders actively pushed the stakes higher within minutes.

Following his victory, Praneeth Reddy carried the sacred prasadam on his head to pay respects to the deity before civic leaders, amidst flower showers and traditional dhol celebrations. Immediately following the bidding event, the massive Balapur Ganesh idol embarked on its historic 16-kilometer Shobhayatra procession toward Hussain Sagar lake for immersion. The funds collected from the auction will traditionally be allocated toward local infrastructure development, educational support, and temple upkeep in the Balapur village region.
