Tehran, March 8: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s close aide and National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani warned that U.S. President Donald Trump must pay the price for the attack that killed Khamenei.
Larijani, one of Khamenei’s closest associates, posted on X: “We will not spare Trump. He must pay the appropriate price for Khamenei’s death. Many people, including our leader, lost their lives in the attacks. This is not a trivial matter. We will take revenge accordingly.”
He further claimed in another post that, amid the war, Iran had captured several American soldiers and was holding them in prisons. He accused Trump of misleading the public by saying only six U.S. soldiers had died in Iranian attacks, insisting that many more had been killed. He alleged that later, the U.S. would inflate the death toll with fabricated incidents and accidents.
Speaking to local media, Larijani said Iran’s retaliatory strikes against the U.S. and Israel were continuing. He also referred to the U.S. forces allegedly detaining Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, drawing a parallel with Venezuela, where Washington expected a quick end to the conflict but failed.
However, the U.S. rejected Larijani’s claims of capturing American soldiers, with a CENTCOM spokesperson calling them lies and further evidence of Iranian government deception.
