Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 22: Strengthening Kerala’s global standing as a premier destination for Ayurveda and holistic wellness, the first International Ayurveda and Wellness Conclave will be held in Kozhikode on February 2 and 3.
Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the conclave at the Calicut Trade Centre, Eranhipaalam, on February 2. The event is being organised by the Ayurveda Promotion Society (APS) in association with the Department of Tourism and allied tourism and health organisations.
The conclave will bring together Ayurveda scholars, global wellness experts, policymakers, academics, industry leaders, travel trade professionals and international stakeholders.
It is envisioned as a strategic platform for knowledge exchange, policy formulation, business-to-business networking and global collaborations, aimed at accelerating Kerala’s emergence as one of the world’s most trusted destinations for Ayurveda and wellness tourism.
Extensive B2B networking is a key focus of the event, with participation from around 100 Ayurveda and wellness service providers from Kerala, 120 international agents and operators, 30 Indian agents and operators, and 30 yoga operators, along with 30 international and 20 Indian bloggers and media representatives.
The conclave will also focus on strengthening Kerala’s position in medical value travel, wellness retreats, Ayurveda healthcare and yoga tourism.
Sessions on the opening day will cover global market trends in Ayurveda, the integration of Ayurveda and yoga into wellness tourism, research and international acceptance of Ayurveda, and the growing scope of medical value travel linked to traditional healthcare systems.
A full-day, structured B2B interaction will be held on the second day, connecting around 150 international and domestic buyers with Ayurveda service providers from across Kerala.
As part of the initiative, an experiential tour for international Ayurveda and yoga ambassadors has been planned from February 4. The tour will begin in Kozhikode and conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on February 12, covering Ayurveda resorts, wellness retreats, yoga destinations, Ayurveda hospitals and manufacturing facilities across the state.
The programme will also include curated cultural and heritage experiences such as visits to Kerala Kalamandalam, the Kochi Muziris Biennale, a Kochi port cruise and other major attractions, offering delegates a comprehensive exposure to Kerala’s Ayurveda, wellness and cultural ecosystem.
Through policy dialogues, scientific sessions, global networking and large-scale trade interactions, the conclave and the accompanying tour are expected to significantly boost Kerala’s leadership in Ayurveda, medical value travel and sustainable wellness tourism.
