Hanumakonda, Feb 12: The counting of hundis from the Medaram Maha Jatara concluded on Wednesday, having started on February 5 at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Kalyana Mandapam in Hanumakonda.
Over the course of a week, 828 hundis were counted, yielding a total income of Rs. 13,25,83,269. Around 400 staff members carried out the counting under the supervision of Endowments Department officials.
The hundis contained foreign currency, demonetized notes, silver, and gold ornaments. In the 2024 Jatara, the income was Rs. 13,25,22,511, almost the same as this year.
However, last time only 540 hundis were set up, while this time 828 hundis were arranged. Despite adding nearly 288 more hundis, the income remained the same, which officials noted as a decline in revenue. The rice collected in the hundis will be weighed and sold through a tender process.
