HYDERABAD: Telangana Employees’ Joint Action Committee (TG EJAC) Chairman Maram Jagadeeshwar delivered a blunt critique of the state government during a massive statewide protest held at Indira Park’s Dharna Chowk. Warning the administration of severe political consequences, Jagadeeshwar declared that no government that antagonizes its workforce has ever managed to sustain itself in power. He accused the state leadership and bureaucratic machinery of complete inaction, revealing that despite submitting numerous representations to the Cabinet Sub-Committee, senior IAS officers, and individual ministers, the government has repeatedly failed to deliver on its promises. He further alleged that bureaucrats are deliberately ignoring explicit directions issued by the Chief Minister, leading to deep-seated resentment and growing anger among employees across all state departments.
Addressing thousands of protesting government workers, pensioners, and teachers gathered from across all 33 districts of Telangana, the EJAC Chairman asserted that financial constraints can no longer be cited as an excuse to delay constitutionally guaranteed benefits. He detailed the primary demands driving the statewide agitation, emphasizing the urgent need for the immediate announcement and implementation of the 2nd Pay Revision Commission (PRC) with an enhanced fitment rate, as well as the swift clearance and release of all pending Dearness Allowance (DA) installments. Additionally, Jagadeeshwar pressed for the complete abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in favor of restoring the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), operationalizing effective cashless medical coverage under the Employee Health Scheme (EHS), and clearing long-pending retirement benefits and medical bills.
Supported by the TG Pensioners’ JAC and the Medical and Health TGEJAC, Jagadeeshwar warned that the current agitation marks only the beginning of a far larger movement. He cautioned that if the government fails to initiate immediate, concrete action to resolve their grievances, the employee federations will intensify their protests statewide and take the confrontation directly to the state capital.
