The new Pickleball Courts, developed as an extension of the University's existing indoor
sports complex, was inaugurated by Prof. D. S. Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor. Marking the occasion,
Prof. Rao played a friendly inaugural match along with DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, Ambika
Philip, Director – Hospitality & Campus Life, and other dignitaries. Prof. Rao invited Ashrita Raju
Datla, B.Arch student and a National Gold Medallist in the pickleball, to cut the ribbon as a mark of
the inauguration, in recognition of her outstanding sporting achievement.

On the same occasion, Prof. Rao also inaugurated several new indoor recreational facilities,
including Air Hockey, Table Soccer (Foosball), Snooker/Eight Ball Pool, Ludo, Snake and Ladder,
and other indoor games, providing students with additional opportunities for recreation and relaxation
beyond their academic pursuits.

Speaking on the occasion, the University officials highlighted that these new facilities reflect
GITAM's continued focus on creating a vibrant campus environment that nurtures not only academic
excellence but also physical fitness, mental well-being, and social engagement among students.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Directors/Principals of various Schools, Heads
of Departments, faculty members, administrative staff, coaches, and a large number of students.
Students enthusiastically welcomed the addition of the new sports and recreational facilities,
expressing their appreciation for the University's continuous efforts to enrich campus life and provide
a holistic learning experience.
