Subramanian Swamy Moves Supreme Court Over Tirumala Laddu Issue

New Delhi, Feb 22: Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to appoint a one‑member committee to review the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report on the Tirumala laddu controversy.

Swamy argued that the state government’s move undermines the authority of the SIT, which was constituted earlier by the Supreme Court itself to probe irregularities surrounding the famed Tirumala laddus distributed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). He contended that setting up another committee amounts to interference with judicial proceedings.

The petition has been listed before a bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, which is expected to hear the matter on Monday.

The laddu issue has sparked political debate in Andhra Pradesh, with opposition parties accusing the government of mishandling the matter. Swamy’s intervention is likely to intensify the spotlight on the controversy, which has already drawn national attention.
