Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Unveils “TechBio” Vision at BioAsia 2026

Hyderabad, Feb 17: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy officially inaugurated the 23rd edition of BioAsia 2026 today, marking a significant milestone in Telangana’s journey toward becoming a global life sciences powerhouse. Addressing a record-breaking gathering of over 4,000 delegates at HITEX, the Chief Minister emphasized the state’s transition from a manufacturing-heavy hub to an innovation-led “TechBio” leader.

The Chief Minister’s keynote address centered on the theme “TechBio Unleashed: AI, Automation & the Biology Revolution,” where he outlined a strategic roadmap to integrate advanced technology with biological sciences. He declared that Telangana is shifting its focus from being the “pharmacy of the world” to a global originator of advanced therapies, noting that the state’s scientific talent is now ready to lead in Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) and mRNA technology.

Following its global preview at Davos, the CM detailed the Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026-30, which targets attracting $25 billion in investments and creating 500,000 high-quality jobs by 2030. To support this, he introduced a “3D” strategy—Discovery, Development, and Deployment—to position Telangana among the top five life sciences clusters globally. A dedicated Life Sciences Innovation Fund was also highlighted, starting with a corpus of Rs. 100 crore to support startups and translational research.

“We are building one of the world’s most trusted and transformational biosciences ecosystems. Our goal is not just to manufacture for the world, but to innovate for the world—driving global health impact right here from Telangana.” — CM Revanth Reddy

The 2026 summit has seen an unprecedented 25% increase in participation, with the CM noting that the state is now a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) for giants like Sanofi and Novartis. During his speech, he also pointed to landmark structural reforms, including recognizing R&D units as full industrial enterprises to grant them better access to land and power incentives.

Plans were reaffirmed for the world-class Green Pharma City and the expansion of Genome Valley, alongside the announcement of a new Telangana School of Life Sciences to create a future-ready workforce. The two-day event continues with sessions from global experts like Pushmeet Kohli (Google DeepMind) focusing on AI-driven drug discovery.
