Telangana: Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao dedicates Manchukonda Lift Irrigation Project to the nation

Khammam, Jan 13 (UNI) Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Tuesday dedicated the Manchukonda Lift Irrigation Project (MLIP) to the nation and formally inaugurated the scheme by switching it on at V. Venkatayapalem.
The Raghunathapalem and Khammam Urban mandals in Khammam district are expected to receive a major boost in agriculture with the commissioning of the project, which is aimed at turning large stretches of farmland into lush green fields.
The Minister played a key role in completing the project in just one year, ahead of the originally estimated two-year timeline.
As part of the MLIP, arrangements have been made to fill 35 tanks with water. The scheme has also been designed to divert Nagarjuna Sagar waters to ensure irrigation for two crops. The project is expected to provide water to around 2,412 acres of agricultural land.
Farmers welcomed the initiative, expressing happiness that groundwater levels would improve and that there would be no shortage of water for two crop seasons.
Officials said the project would significantly strengthen irrigation infrastructure in the region and enhance farm productivity.
