Warangal Police Raise Awareness on Alcohol-Related Deaths at Funeral

Warangal, March 8: Alcohol, marijuana, and drugs are claiming the lives of young people. Accidents caused under the influence are cutting short lives that should have lasted a hundred years, leaving families in deep grief. Whether it’s a birthday, a wedding, or even a funeral, alcohol flows freely—and the tragedies that follow bring sorrow to households. To put a stop to this, Warangal district police have taken a unique initiative: they tried to raise awareness among youth during funeral ceremonies. Their effort has been widely appreciated.

At Lakshmipuram, a bike lost control and hit a divider, killing two young men on the spot. They were returning home after attending a relative’s funeral when the accident occurred.

This incident cast a shadow of grief over Shanigaram village in Kamalapur mandal, Hanmakonda district. The deceased were identified as Naveen Kumar and Nagaraju. Their sudden deaths devastated their families. Police investigations revealed that overspeeding and negligence caused the accident, and both victims had consumed alcohol.

Recognizing alcohol as the root cause, police decided to raise awareness among other youth in the village. They attended the funeral of the two young men and explained how their lives were lost.

The incident, which happened five days ago, has gone viral on social media. Kazipet ACP Prashant Reddy’s words, directed at today’s youth, have made many reflect. He also engaged with the victims’ families, showing how parents struggle for their children, while negligence from the youth shatters those hopes. This approach impressed everyone present.
