New Delhi: The Indian Railways had categorically stated that tickets acquired as WhatsApp-forwarded messages and ticket screenshots will no longer be accepted. Only the original e-ticket or a printed ticket will be considered valid.
The new rule has been introduced to prevent ticket tampering and misuse. Passengers who present only a WhatsApp screenshot or a forwarded ticket may be treated as traveling without a valid ticket. Such passengers may be required to purchase a new ticket and pay a penalty, the warning says Indian Railways.
Indian Railways has advised passengers to carry the original e-ticket in the IRCTC app, the original booking confirmation message, or a printed ticket, along with a government-issued photo ID.
